One Subsea Tubing Hanger Installation Experience

Challenge:

A Norwegian operator requested OneSubsea to deliver a true umbilical-less
solution for Tubing Hanger (TH) installation for an upcoming subsea re-
completion. The TH had to be pre-made to the installation tool from shore
ready to be picked up offshore. It was also important for the client that
OneSubsea would take full ownership of the operation.

The operation was due in the wintertime and the proposed solution had to
be qualified for harsh conditions.

Solution:

OneSubsea chose the ADAPT tool from Simple Tools for the challenging task.
A System Integration Test (SIT) was performed successfully, and the ADAPT
operation was added to OneSubsea procedures.

For safe handling offshore the assembly was certified according to NORSOK
R-002 standard.

The solution also allowed customer to close a BOP ram and pump the TH
down to ensure TH fully landed prior to locking.

Results

The TH with installation tool incl. ADAPT was prepared onshore and mobilised from OneSubsea workshop.

Together with handling pup in top and saver sub in bottom the assembly was no more than 12 meters. OneSubsea field engineers ensured a safe and efficient installation of the TH according to procedure.

Conclusion

Approx. 10 hours rig time saving for the 1st installation. Reduced HSE risk, extremely pleased operator and good cooperation with OneSubsea from inquiry to delivery.
